Je suis un monstre
Tanguy De Donder, België, 2017, 17'
A faceless woman's story told through the eyes of an unknown man. The scenes might look empty but there is a full story waiting to be told. It is up to us to decide if we are ready to hear it. A delicate and restrained piece of filmmaking by Tanguy De Donder that takes the viewer through the now forgotten parts of the Belgian city of Liège.
La belle et la bête
Jean Cocteau, René Clément, Frankrijk, 1946, 90'
Jean Cocteau’s sublime adaptation of Mme. Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy-tale masterpiece – in which the pure love of a beautiful girl melts the heart of a feral but gentle beast – is a landmark of motion picture fantasy, with unforgettably romantic performances by Jean Marais and Josette Day. The spectacular visions of enchantment, desire, and death in Beauty and the Beast [La belle et la bête] have become timeless icons of cinematic wonder.
Lichtekooi thanks Tanguy De Donder, Extra City Kunsthal, Joachim Naudts, Zuzanna Rachowska and Tom Van Camp.
