Lichtekooi Artspace is a space for contemporary art in Antwerp on the initiative of Nadia Bijl and Pepa De Maesschalck. It opened its doors in the spring of 2021.
Lichtekooi Artspace is a non-profit space, located in the former garage of a terrace house. Lichtekooi aims to develop a varied programme of solo and thematic exhibitions, performances and shows, lectures and artist talks, all based on an open dialogue.
The term lichtekooi is an old Dutch word for a girl of easy virtue. Lichtekooi aims to be a good “hostess” for its audience and a “girl of easy virtue” for artists.

Lichtekooi Artspace is een ruimte voor hedendaagse kunst te Antwerpen die in het voorjaar van 2021 haar deuren opende op initiatief van Nadia Bijl en Pepa De Maesschalck.
Lichtekooi Artspace is een non-profitruimte, gesitueerd in een voormalige garage van een rijhuis. Lichtekooi wil vanuit een open dialoog een uiteenlopend programma uitbouwen met solo- en thematentoonstellingen, performances en opvoeringen, lezingen en artist talks.
De term “lichtekooi” is een oud Nederlands woord voor een vrouw van lichte zeden. Lichtekooi wil een goede “gastvrouw” zijn voor haar publiek en een “lichtekooi” voor kunstenaars.
