Lichtekooi Artspace nodigde TICK TACK uit als co-host voor de derde jaarlijkse Sportdag.

Tijdens de (E)SPORTDAG worden TICK TACK en het aangrenzende Albertpark het decor voor een dag vol adrenaline, experiment en onverwachte match-ups.

In het Albertpark barst het van de actie: van estafette en touwtrekken tot kubb en armworstelen. Geen klassieke sportdag, wel een eclectisch veld vol spel, competitie en plezier – allemaal met een knipoog naar de artistieke traditie waarin kunstenaars als Marcel Broodthaers en Panamarenko al in de jaren ’60 grenzen tussen kunst en sport deden vervagen.

Binnen, in de tentoonstellingsruimte van TICK TACK, schakelt de sportieve energie over naar een digitale dimensie met een ESPORTS competitie. De Amerikaanse kunstenaar Brennan Wojtyla (2001, Florida) ontwikkelde speciaal voor de Sportdag de solotentoonstelling LAN. Bezoekers worden spelers: teams van vijf nemen het tegen elkaar op in de iconische computerspel Counter-Strike, met het Antwerpse modernistische erfgoed van Léon Stynen (De Zonnewijzer, 1955) als virtuele backdrop.

(E)SPORTDAG 2025, op zaterdag 27 september van 13-18u, belooft een dag te worden waar grenzen vervagen, waar fysieke kracht en digitale skills elkaar ontmoeten, en waar kunst en sport samensmelten tot één groot stedelijk spel.

Lichtekooi Artspace has invited TICK TACK as co-host of the third annual Sportsday. 

During (E)SPORTSDAY, TICK TACK and the adjacent Albertpark will transform into the stage for a day full of adrenaline, experimentation, and unexpected match-ups.

In the Albertpark across TICK TACK, Lichtekooi Artspace organizes a series of sports: from relay races and tug-of-war to kubb and arm wrestling. This is not your typical sports day, but an eclectic playground of games, competition, and joy – all with a nod to the artistic tradition of the 1960s, when artists like Marcel Broodthaers and Panamarenko blurred the lines between art and sport.

Inside TICK TACK’s exhibition space, the physical energy shifts into a digital realm with an E-SPORTS competition. American artist Brennan Wojtyla (2001, Florida) presents his solo exhibition LAN, created especially for sportsday. Visitors become players: teams of five face off in the legendary PC shooter Counter-Strike: Source, with Antwerp’s modernist heritage by Léon Stynen (De Zonnewijzer, 1955) as the virtual backdrop.

(E)SPORTSDAY 2025, on Saturday, September 27 from 1–6 PM, promises to be a day where boundaries dissolve, where physical strength and digital skills collide, and where art and sport merge into one big urban game.

Winners will be awarded limited-edition artworks, specially created by Brennan Wojtyla and winnie t for (E)SPORTSDAY 2025.
